How do I receive the departure insurance?
- ✈️ Apply for departure guarantee insurance with Samsung Fire (the foreign workers' insurance). You can receive it at the airport (on departure day) or to your home-country account within 14 days of leaving.
- 🏦 It is paid after the Ministry of Justice confirms your (permanent) departure. You need a copy of your bankbook and your passport (or ARC).
How do I receive the difference?
- 🏢 You claim the difference from your employer. As a rule it must be paid within 14 days of your last working day.
- ⚖️ You can ask Samsung Fire to confirm the insurance/lump-sum amount in writing. If your employer doesn't pay the difference, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor (☎1350), and you should generally exercise this right within 3 years.

- 💡 Departure insurance is based on 'ordinary wage'; statutory severance on 'average wage'. The more pay that counts toward average wage (like overtime/night/holiday pay), the larger your severance — creating a difference.
